In last week’s post, we mentioned starting a mini blog-series this month, dedicated to the behind-the-scenes here at Diane Kennedy. Here we are at our first installment!
One of our favourite things about our line has got to be our Organic Bamboo Viscose Knit fabric. While everyone knows the fabulous benefits of bamboo fabric for your skin, it’s important to note that because of its natural sustainability (it can grow up to a foot a day, unaided!), it’s also fabulous for the environment.
From the Montreal-based textile factory we get our aforementioned fabric, to the factory we use to produce our line (not 10 minutes away from our offices in the heart of East Vancouver), we wanted to exemplify the words “Made In Canada”.
One of the oft-asked question we get is “Why the luxury price point?”. Vancouver prides itself on being an Eco-friendly city and it gives us great pride to be able to contribute to that mission. On top of that, we consciously made the decision to not outsource our labour. We can happily say that Diane Kennedy reflects quality in both finished product and the employment standards that Canada is known for. Simply put, our ethical manufacturing methods dictate our pricing.
We also do our part in supporting our local industries. We’re pleased to have had the opportunity in our 8 years to build amazing business relationships with local vendors such as Shimona Henry, Sonja Picard & Scarlett Ballantyne. We love collaborating with like minded people and are overjoyed at how successful these local businesswomen have become. You go girls!
Moving forward, we’re excited to working with many more talented locals and representing as a proudly Canadian brand. We love that our clients can proudly wear our clothing, knowing they’re supporting Canadian business.
