A few times we’ve gotten flack for showing ‘regular’ size models on our website. After all we’re supposed to be a plus size company right? Well, not true as we now make our clothes in 8 sizes from S-3X. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and as plus size girls we should know this better than anyone.
When I first started my clothing line, Diane Kennedy, I was doing a lot of research and the comment that kept coming up was that plus size girls didn’t want to be treated any differently than regular size girls. They didn’t want to ride to the top floor of the department store and find a wee little sad assortment of plus sizes way in the corner. Of course times have changed and there is a lot more selection (yay!) but shouldn’t we all be treated the same?
No matter your size, most women have body issues. My slim little pattern maker, who wears a size Small and models for me often, recently posted a comic strip (below) and it got me thinking. Instead of feeling smug and gloating that she is the thinnest girl in our office, she has boob envy because some of us bigger girls in the office have whopping 34GG and 38F bra sizes respectively. Who would have thought??
